What happened to September ?. What a great deer season it has been, taking a nice deer in Missouri, a trip to Iowa and of course deer hunting here in Wisconsin. This year definitely ranks up there in the top 5 as far as deer hunting goes when we talk bowhunting it's #1. It's not about the harvest of an animal as much as soaking up and enjoying the experience as a whole. Spending time with friends, making new friends and sharing stories makes the experience complete. Being able to harvest a deer is a bonus. Sometimes we need to take a step back reflect and appreciate the opportunities we have we have to enjoy the great sport of deer hunting. I still plan to get out a day or 2 and fire up the TC smokepole. Remember to stop using excuses to not get out and enjoy the outdoors instead think of reasons to get out and participate. I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable 2010 gun hunt. Tune in this week to hear from the boys from No Excuses and on December 8th Andy, Randy and I will wrap up the 2010 deer hunting season.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

October 22, 2010

Hard to believe the 2010 gun deer season is less than 30 days away. But for now archery season is in full swing. I had a chance to get out after a long day behind the computer. Took a ride to Iola to check the cameras and spend a hour in the stand. With the moon in the full stage ny guess is that they will be out all night. Saw 1 small 6 point, 1 doe with a fawn and 15 turkeys. I did not see any scrapes as I normally do. I did doctor up some old scrape sights with Wall Hanger from James Valley. We will see what that does over the next week. Plenty of pics on the cameras though. . The predator camera has both audio and video capabilities. It rocks, it puts a whole new spin on game cameras.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

October 13, 2010

I just came from TheReelShot and the shop is coming along nicely. Did a little duck hunting(1 Mallard) there were not many ducks around. Saw a few Mallards and some hen wood ducks. Spent most of the hunting time looking for the elusive Ruffed Grouse. My nephew Dan and I chased around some birds. We had 10 flushes and took 4 birds. Dan shot all 4, sharing your passion for the outdoors with someone you care about that's what it's all about. Also spent some quality time with my family and had a great meal at our favorite local eatery(Wolf's). If you love the fall season get up and get outdoors and enjoy the colors. The picture is of Dan with his double on Grouse, CONGRATULATIONS and I was there.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

September 14, 2010

Well it's official, I have been traded to another team for a years supply of deer pee and a draft pick to be named later. What fun that was, a beautiful day and time with the family a win win situation. I have to admit though the only ride I went on was the lazy river (I'm getting old you know). On our way we stopped at Ship Rock, a natural rock formation that has over 300 stairs to the top for a breathtaking view. I will miss my annual trip to Wyoming to visit the Magee family and chase Antelope and Mule deer. On a better not I have drawn the highly coveted Iowa bow tag. Three years in the waiting the time has come to spend a week with my friend Jack Schaefer in the mighty town of Fairfield. Missouri has also presented an opportunity with Mike Helbing and Double Duece Ranch in Powersville just across the Iowa border. A new adventure in another state, looks to be an awesome bow season this year. If you need a quality hunt you need to contact Mike at helbing @centurytel.net or call 608-572-2389. At his place in Missouri you get 1 buck tag 1 doe tag and 2 turkey tags and some outstanding accommodations for only $1200 for a non-rut hunt. Don't forget to stop in at Gander Mountain and check out the FIRST SHOT event going on thru August 22. The hunters dream plenty of stuff on SALE at great prices or check out the web gandermountain.com. at If you ladies want to know more about the outdoors check out N.E.W. outdoors at northeastwisconsinoutdoors.com. Hunting season is just around the corner. Keep in mind Bow season starts it off. Make sure your bow is ready, we can tune and check your bow before the season starts. Another thing to remember is get ready to put in your fall food plots. Mid August is the time for me. We have a huge selection of fall planting seeds available. We will also be scheduling a Fall food plot seminar as well. Make sure you stop in at Gander Mountain CLICK HERE for the huge customer appreciation celebration. There will be something for everyone on sale for the event. Our own Carl Luedke will be doing a Dutch oven demo on Saturday. Also stop in and meet Paul Ruedinger from EZ Access gear CLICK HERE and check out all the newest in Lanyards.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

June 26, 2010

Spent the day at Deerfest 2010 Friday the 25th. WOW if you love to hunt deer this is the show you need to check out. All the latest in bows, clothing, gear, outfitters it's all there. You can also get your deer head officially score by the Buck and Bear club. You have to check out the Pro Hood clothing booth, my friend Andy and I purchased the whole outfit for $89. It included the pullover hood, pants, gloves and a hat. It is the ultimate in early season gear and extremely comfortable. There are plenty of your favorite outdoor celebrities there to talk to and get autographs. I had an opportunity to meet and talk to Lee and Tiffany Lakosky from "The Crush" we may be able to get them on the show over the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned. A very special thanks to Pat Reeve and Nicole Jones. Pat was a guest on last Wednesdays show, great people and a pleasure to be around. Make sure you check out Driven with Pat and Nicole.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

June 15, 2010

Spent this last weekend up at Post Lake. I spent the weekend with my family up at the cabin in Post Lake. The goal was to open the cabin and relax. The mice had something to say about that. The little buggers had taken up residence in one of our cabinets. 3 hours later and 6 dead mice we moved on. The water on Post lake was down significantly and warmed up quickly. I believe that the quick warm up caused the crappies and some perch to die off. The shoreline was littered with them. As for the bluegills, non-existent. Not sure where they are but they're not in the shallows nesting. On a more positive note, I took a vet to my favorite brook trout spot. My nephew and I paddled for 30 minutes to get to the spot. As usual we caught plenty of chubs. We did manage to land 6 nice brook trout ranging from 10 to 14 inches. The one pictures was 14 inches. I hope some of you took the time to share the outdoors with someone this past weekend, even better if you shared it with a Military veteran. Thanks to all the vet's out there for putting it on the line. A big thanks to you to Dan your a pretty cool nephew. Now remember don't tell a soul about that spot. Next time you can buy the bait.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

May 27, 2010

Hard to believe that Memorial day is already here. I spent 3.5 hours in the turkey woods last Wednesday. Not the best of conditions for a hunt but fun to be out. The toms gobbled on the roost and that was pretty much it. I did get one to respond to me and the fun began. I moved in on him 5 times without success. He stayed on the move the whole time. After an hour or so he started to sound closer my heart started to race. I picked my spot and waited for him to expose himself. Much to my surprise he gobbled in the woods no more than 50 yards away and then went silent, i knew he was coming. I prepared for the shot and waited anxiously. As i was looking in the direction i thought he was coming in he popped out in the exact opposite side of where I was positioned. He noticed me right off the bat as I reached for the gun. The off sided shot went over his head and off he went. Much to my disappointment the hunt was over for the day. I have to say that was one of the most exciting hunt I have had in a while. The gobblers can still be had but my suggestion is don't use a decoy, call often, move around and if you locate a tom close the distance as best you can.

Thanks to Perry from Predator Trailcams CLICK HERE for all his support.Join us next week for a rundown of all the new camping equipment available at Gander with my guest Mike Schaefer store manager at Gander Sheboygan.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

April 30, 2010

WOW seems like forever since my last post. With the 2010 spring turkey season in full swing I hope all you hunters had success. Having a permit for the 3rd week is always a charm for me. This year was no different. 9:45 on Wednesday I bagged this bird, I was at full draw with him at 35 yards when he decided he had enough. I slowly put down the bow and grabbed my gun(which I had brought loaded #5s for coyotes) I ended shooting him at 42 yards. Having patterned my gun made all the difference.

The bird activity this year was some of the best I had seen in years. I had 5 gobblers going off the first hour after sunrise.

I also had 4 Jake's come in as well. Seeing birds in good

numbers again is a definitely a positive.

Thanks again to Steve and Jeff from No Excuses Outdoors for coming into the store to give a food plot seminar. We sure appreciate your time and knowledge.

The second photo is Jeff from No Excuses with his bird he shot on the 24th. I made my first trip out to my hunting property in Iola this past Sunday. Once again the infamous beaver clan has taken up residence on one of my ponds. Those little rodents can do some dam-age, no pun intended. I also spent several hours looking for deer sheds no luck there. The deer sign was pretty heavy through my fall food plots. I didn't see much for turkeys but the scratchings were there in the oak stand. With turkey season soon to arrive please make sure you visit Gander Mountain for all your turkey hunting needs. I would be glad to help you get outfitted just ask for me. You can also visit Quaker boy calls CLICK HERE to check out some of the best calls made. Also make sure you stop in Saturday April 10th I will be giving a Turkey hunting presentation from 11:00am -12:00pm. We will also have a few drawings for prizes after the presentation. I will talk about using decoys, calling and setting up on the wary gobblers. You may see a few in store specials as well. Don't forget the Million dollar safe and firearms sale will be ending on April 4th so take advantage of the great deals still available. Always remember to get the kids involved in "Living the Outdoors" you will be a better person for it.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

March 11, 2010

Spring is almost here !!!!!!!! The Mule deer out there look impressive as well. He also has combo hunts on Elk and Deer. The picture is Steve Jordan from No Excuses Television CLICK HERE. He shot this mule deer last year at the Louisiana Purchase Ranch. WOW. I must admit

although I have always been a Green Bay Packer fan. I am now a fan of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. These ladies were some of the nicest people I have met. They sat for 2 hours and took photos and signed autographs and were happy to do it. They were extremely friendly and cute as well. I hope that we get to be a part of this event again next year Woodward

Communications did a great job putting the event together. Lake Winnebago is teaming with activity with the Sturgeon season starting. There have been several large fish taken and I believe a new record. If you are planning a snow goose hunt this year, this is the place you need to go. I have been invited to a hunt in late February and am I excited. Jeff, Carl and Steve from No Excuses Television have been there and they love it. I also plan to have Allen Letcher from Flatlander outfitters CLICK HERE on the show in the coming weeks. I have only hunted snow geese once in my hunting career but the weather did not cooperate and we only shot a few birds. This teaser is courtesy of No Excuses Television. Thanks Jeff I think I finally made it work. If you have been in Gander Mountain you may recognize the guy with the curly hair.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v16.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D0647f1d5a029fbb0%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331646580%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D2FCF94CC59734728AC579A5D30CCCFD5BE89704E.9C5500606ADAC05050DAAB00481B775EDC9C356%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D647f1d5a029fbb0%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3D8GmF9-_E-PpJQ76Oj2xZxASRtgo&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

January 17, 2010

Get up ! Andy Wickland shot this buck on the opening weekend of the 2009 season. He was one of the lucky ones this year. The younger hunters at Gander were very successful this year and out did the veterans. Several nice deer were taken by the crew this past season. Hopefully the other hunter will e-mail me the pictures so I can post them. If you head out to hunt the late season I wish you the best of luck. If any of you would like me to post your BIG BUCK on the blog e-mail it to lto@wcinet.com with a short description of your hunt.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

December 1, 2009

WOW hard to believe that the 2009 gun deer season is over. I will try today to get out with the smoke pole. All in all the deer season was a bit of a disappointment for me. The weather was not very conducive to hunting with the fog and warm weather. The deer herd is also way down from the last 2 years. I at least see 20 deer on opening day this year I saw 4. The Wisconsin DNR has met or in my opinion exceeded their goal of getting the numbers down. Most people I have spoke with in the store are of the same opinion as me. Not many deer. Their near extermination of the doe population has had an adverse effect on the herd. I feel this not only effects the hunters but the economic impact on small businesses can be felt across the state. I will take a closer look as to what licences I purchase next year. I may not even gun hunt. I will always take to the woods with my bow because I love being in the woods that time of the year. If the DNR passes a 16 day gun season, will we have any deer to hunt ? Wisconsin has long been known for its whitetail hunting opportunities. Those are severely diminished. The DNR claims that we may not be hunting the right areas or not spending enough time in the woods BULL!!!!!!!!!! Those of us that take deer hunting serious can give them a better idea of what is out there. They claim the SAK works, if that means killing all the deer I guess it does. I must say that there has been quiet a few BIG deer killed this year. My opinion on that is the lack of does. A BIG buck rarely

shows himself let alone during daylight hours. These bucks have to travel to find receptive does. On a more positive note this year was the year for the younger hunters. At Gander Mountain we had 2 of our younger associates show up the older hunters. I will post the pictures in future posts. Also my nephew Daniel harvested his first deer, a BIG doe. as with all my disappointment this was why I like to hunt. Take the kids out and expose them to the outdoors and watch them take their own path. It was a pleasure to see the look on his face. After proudly serving his country in the Marine corps and a tour in Iraq he most certainly deserved that.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

November 17, 2009

A very special thanks to the Game wardens and Game biologist for sharing their passion for living the outdoors. I hope you found the program informative and enjoyable. As for the RUT things are happening. Last Friday I spent the day in the treestand. I Saw 7 different bucks, it was like someone had turned the light on. The movement was all day long. I saw 3 does as well. I think the bucks had them hiding. Join us this week, we will be talking black powder with Carl Luedke and Brian Edwards from CVA. Make sure you call in with any questions. I have posted as a video from a Predator trailcamera click here. This buck had passed behind me at 18 yards and with a few light grunts he came in . Unfortunately he never gave me a shot. Good luck to all of you and have a safe hunt.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v1.nonxt2.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dc71a655c73344696%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331646580%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3DBC50DD9411E1E1B552178E4CE0CE6F353D01595.5B043C165527B5B3AD5B82F9F7E485F2AE5373DD%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dc71a655c73344696%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DaFm7keNzaJ7GSVQANge0xbefWTY&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

November 2, 2009

FINALLY, I was able to get out and enjoy the outdoors. I spent about 5 hours in the tree stand this last weekend. Although the weather wasn't all that great ti was nice to get outside. I did see a few deer, but not the numbers that I am used to seeing. There are several nice bucks in the area, one passed by me early Saturday morning. I could not get a clear shot so hopefully he will pass by again. I am also getting many nice pics on the Predator trail cam click here I also have some great video. The bucks seem to be moving early in the day and again toward dusk. Some of the scrapes that were around early have been abandoned. I have set up 3 other sites using wall hanger and have bucks hitting them already. I feel the next week to 10 days should be prime. I have not seen many does in my hunting area, that can be good. Hopefully the bucks have to travel more to find does. My apologies go out to Randy Williams I forgot to have him give us his Taxidermy studio information call 920-982-2771 for more information. Don't forget November 11th we will be broadcasting live from Gander Mountain in Appleton with Wisconsin Game Wardens and a Deer biologists. If you have any questions that you would like me to ask, please send me an e-mail to lto@wcinet.com and I would be glad to share it with my guests.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="331" height="294" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v12.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Deb1121f2d7d9f284%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331646580%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D36F0CCE35ABC2854ADF25C40A4250B7BFC8934F2.F1A7B136EAD6106A1313F304BB93630BA6AAD2%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Deb1121f2d7d9f284%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DGR8DkwdbPJ86sg2EB3KyISJLuxc&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

This one was shot last spring by 10 year old Ty Bloem. Ty is the son of Mike and Kim Bloem of Glenrock Wyoming. I have never seen a triple bearded turkey until this one. As we always say on the show get the kids involved. The Bloem family are accomplished hunters and as you can see that is being passed along to the younger generation. Team Wisconsin won the class A part of the competition. Tim, Pete and myself were part of the team. Thanks to the Burke family for allowing us to hunt on their ranch, what a beautiful ranch. Unfortunately for me I hit another nice whitetail and failed to retrieve it. We searched for several hours but no deer. I was able to take another nice Antelope off the Magee ranch this year. Thanks to the Magee family for their hospitality this year as well. That is one of the most game rich areas I have ever been in. We saw mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope, turkeys and even a few prairie dogs. Thanks to the all involved in the National Bow hunt, the judges, our guide Steve Browning and the Gates family for letting us be a part of a 40 year tradition. Also thanks to Rob, Mike and Kim Bloem for extending their friendship. Please check out the next post I will have a picture of a really huge Merriam's turkey taken by 10 year old hunter from Wyoming.

Get the kids involved in the outdoors you will be better for it.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

August 20, 2009

Thanks to Tim Malay from Ultimate Habitats click here,

Tara and Shelly The Droptine Divas click here,

Eric Stanke from Avery Outdoors click here

Dean Redmann designer of the Comfort Hunter chair click here , Shane Renard from BowTech click here , Jeff Gagnow from No Excuses Outdoors click here and Patrick Carlson from RigemRight Waterfowl click here. Last week I had the privilege to go on a lake Michigan charter. Wolf pack adventures provided me with an outstanding trip out of the Sheboygan Harbor. Wolf pack adventures is owned and operated by Pat Kalmerton. Captain Greg and first mate Nick put me on to the fish. We caught 2 king salmon 1 lake trout and a really nice rainbow trout. These guys really know how to fish. If you intend to go out on a charter I highly recommend Wolf Pack adventures. They not only charter Lake Michigan, Green Bay and lake Winnebago are destinations as well. They also do corporate outings and team building trips. click here for details

Don't forget to check out Gander Mountain on August 15 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for our "get It outdoors event. This year my family and I took a mini vacation. We headed to our cottage in Post Lake. What a beautiful weekend all around. I took my daughter Hannah horse back riding. This was the first time she went solo. She did a great job. If you are in the Summit-Bass lake area you need to stop at the Highway 45 riding stables. Darla Lewer with the help of her friend Tom Pendergast have set up an excellent riding opportunity. The ride lasted about an hour and went through some scenic north woods terrain. Trail rides are only $25 per person or $20 for two or more. With the help of Emily, Molly and Abby they also have pony rides and an all day horse camp. Please give them a call and set up a ride for the family. Call (715-623-6868) you won't be disappointed. We also checked out the place where I had seen the pine snake, he was there as you can see in the picture. I think he's about 5 feet long. We also found 2 complete sheds from 2 different snakes. If you plan on crappie fishing you're in luck. We caught several nice ones off our pier. Use the smallest floating rapala and reel it very slow. Fish right at sunset.

Good luck

June 26, 2009

Well summer is finally here. So get out and enjoy the outdoors. As my last guests on the show Jim and Brian Keller stated, the walleyes are biting. I have seen many boats out on the mud flats trolling with boards. I have also seen many fisherman using a slip bobber rig tipped with a night crawler having success. I have received a report from northern Wisconsin that the crappies are biting pretty well. The bait of preference was a PINKIE jig but the always popular black beetle spin with a red belly works as well. Good luck to to Brian and Jim in their next tournament.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

June 15, 2009

Don't for get dad on his special day. This past week my daughter graduated from 5th grade. I asked what she wanted for graduation. she replied "can I take a friend to the cottage for the weekend ". You all know the answer to that. The weather was not the greatest but we made the best of it anyway. I taught the girls how to kayak and did some fishing and enjoyed the outdoors. The bluegills are starting to get into the shallows. We just need some stable warm weather. The crappies were biting a bit on

Justin Hull's favorite bait the black beetle spin with the

red belly.

The brook trout were active on the Hunting river. I caught several nice ones and a 12 inch all on a Panther Martin spinner. Yellow with red spots and a silver blade. I also had an encounter with a 5 foot long pine snake at one of my favorite trout haunts. WOW what a surprise that was. I walked right up on him sunning himself on the side of the road. I went to get the camera but was to late he slipped into his roadside cave. Don't forget Father's day. It's official the 2009 turkey hunting has come to an end for me. I spent the morning trying to muster up a gobble or 2. The birds were pretty silent today, but the hens were out and about. I had one tom investigate the situation and quickly left the scene. As I promised here are the websites for CHALLENGE THE OUTDOORS click here and WOUNDED WARRIORS IN ACTION click here. Also there is a Kicking Bear event sponsored by the Droptine Divas in the Baraboo area click here for more info. Next week I will have Mike Schafer the General Manager from the Sheboygan Gander Mountain. Mother's Day 2009 was successful on many levels this year. First I spent 2 hours in the turkey woods and bagged a 22lb 10 inch bearded tom. Then hurried home for a delicious Mother's day breakfast at a local restaurant with my wife and daughter. After a short shift at Gander I met my family for a great dinner at Hu Hot in Appleton. Can it get any better than that. Starting the day off in the outdoors and ending it with your family. Life is good on all levels. Just a quick note on the turkey situation. The toms are still looking. Get more aggressive with them. Move in on them, call often, call louder and try it without a decoy. It seems they may come closer without a visual. This time of year they are looking and not calling as much. Good luck if you have a tag for 5 th or 6 th period.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

May 3, 2009

Well, season 3 comes to an end. This season was most exciting and disappointing at the same time. The season started with calling in a gobbler at 6:30 am. He came in strutting all the way. What an awesome sight to see. He gave me a shot at 22 yards. I hit him hard with an arrow and he ran to the woods. after about 10 minutes I walked to the spot I last saw him. I quickly picked up the trail. I must have followed him for what seemed to be 30 minutes. It actually turned out to be 90 minutes. The gobbler wandered on to some property that I did not have access to. I do not trespass. So unfortunately I did not retrieve the bird. The next 3 days were equally as awesome. I did stick to my commitment of using my bow. I had one more gobbler come in at 37 yards, but it was a little out of my comfort range. It was fun to get out and enjoy the outdoors again to that level. I will head out next week and try again. On a more fun note, while scouring my property for the bird I found 2 deer sheds. Both were small but cool to find.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

April 26, 2009

What a lousy weekend for weather. If you and your family have not experienced this, you need to check it out. There are many viewing spots along the river. We ended up just west of Shiocton at a large viewing area. What an incredible place we live in here in Wisconsin. So many outdoor activities to enjoy. I am looking forward to getting my chance at a turkey the next couple of weeks. This weather will subdue the activity a bit. When the high pressure system slides in next week be ready, they will be ready. The flocks should start to break up soon. This gives us a better chance to call in a gobbler. Join me next week when my guest

will be Don Kirby General Manager of the Green Bay

Gander Mountain. We are going to chat a bit about

Turkey hunting and the new changes in the deer hunting here in Wisconsin.

The pictures were taken at the viewing area in Shiocton, enjoy them.

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

April 23,2009

The weather looks to be great this weekend. It's time to take the family to check out the sturgeon run on the Wolf river. There are several spots along the river in New London and north of Shiocton. Stop in at your local bait shops for details. Season 3 coming up, I can't wait. This is my favorite time to hunt. The hens are starting to build nests and leave the gobbler's. The gobbler's in turn are looking and are easier to call. Tip of the day. If you have a tom responding to you and coming your way and he quits responding get ready!!!. My experience has been that many times they come in silent.

Good Luck and be safe

LIVE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS

April 16, 2009

"HEN'ed UP"that is the phrase for today.
